Fidel Castro, legend, revolutionary, icon died on Saturday 26th November 2016. Even his fiercest enemies have had to admit that he was larger than life, a man who inspired millions and who dared and stood against imperialism to his dying day when all others around him in the world were falling one by one. He was the last man standing who kept the flame and the hope alive for millions of socialists around the world, people who saw socialism swept away by neo cons, Thatcherism and globalisation. By irony a one time maligned nation that carried the guilt of gassing 6 million Jews, now finds itself in the role of being the leader of liberal democracy and human rights based political system. As the rest of the western world powerhouses of liberalism such as USA, UK and France fall apart under neurosis and racist nationalism, it is Germany that now looks to be the baton holder of values and ideas that have defined much of the twentieth century western civilisation and visionary idealism. THE WORLD ON 11/9 OR THE DAY AFTER US ELECTIONS

It would be 9/11 if it was in most parts of the wold but in United States they put the month before the date. The result of this 11/8 US election when the world wakes up on 11/9 is likely to have bigger influence on both world events and American domestic life. Obama has generally pursued a low key approach to balance of power politics, maintaining status quo rather than precipitate tectonic shifts. But the next four years are likely to see dramatic and challenging upheavals involving both Russia and China, depending on who walks into the White House. More…
